When Stella McCartney Brings New Life To Spring Fashion

When Stella McCartney Brings New Life To Spring Fashion

Mar 27 2018by Kate Russell

It’s always difficult to select our favourite runway collections after Fashion Week. For spring/summer ’18, the trends were feminine, fresh and, in many cases, super modest. However, one of the shows that really stood out to us, here at Modisme, was the Stella McCartney ready-to-wear show.

The looks at Stella McCartney ranged from flirty and feminine to edgy and street. The main two trends that almost all looks honed in on were either ruffled silk designs or juxtaposing, oversized acid wash denim, often head to toe, yet sometimes teamed with silk.

Creating her own trends and bringing new ideas to each season is a Stella McCartney trademark. So, taking inspiration from her spring vibes, we’ve picked out some of our current favourite pieces to recreate these iconic looks.

Silk & Ruffles

One of our favourite maxi skirts online at the moment is this Gucci ruffle ankle-grazer in a soft mustard. In stunning silk, this maxi perfects the Stella McCartney trend.

In statement pink, this Zadig & Voltaire, ruffle shirt blends flirty femininity with modest style.

For an accurate Stella look, why not treat yourself to this trans-seasonal silk taffeta maxi from the designer herself. Worn in colder weather with denim or knits, or through the summer with lighter fabrics, this hot pink maxi skirt is a real statement look.

The perfect dress to style with a long sleeve camisole or fine roll neck, this wrap ruffle dress from Loup Charmont is ideal to take you from Sunday brunch to an evening dinner.

Another pick from Stella’s own range, this bold red dress will have you standing out at the office. With chic ruffle peplum and ¾ length sleeves, this midi is powerful, yet understated.

Acid Wash Denim

If you feel like entering into Stella’s acid wash trend, these Cheap Monday jeans will ease you in smoothly.

Opting for a Stella McCartney piece, try this super 70’s acid wash denim shirt, blending both the designers trend with the utility trend, which is huge for the season.

We love this FP One Redford Poncho from FreePeople. It’s an easy throw-on that can be dressed down with denim and trainers or up with trousers and heeled boots.

For a statement, yet day-to-day acid wash jacket, it has to be Stella. This utility style incorporates multi-pockets and feature zips, for a street style-worthy look.

Keep it simple with these Blue Riot Mom jeans from Missguided, featuring blunt front seams and raw finish hems.

Whether you prefer to opt for floaty silks or tougher denim (or both, simultaneously!) these are some hotter than hot looks to try out as spring approaches. Let us know your favourite style and tag us on Instagram with #modismeloves.
