Throwback to LFW: Best Modest Street Style Picks

Throwback to LFW: Best Modest Street Style Picks

Mar 22 2018by Kate Russell

So, we’ve posted about our favourite modest street style from New York fashion week, but we certainly can’t forget about London. The street style in London city is always phenomenal and inspiring with the very best outfit ideas, but when it comes to Fashion Week, the UK’s capital really steps up its game.

For the London Autumn/Winter ’18 shows we saw so many stylish, yet modest looks, from utility-style jumpsuits (huge for the coming season and Modisme has a blog coming soon based on this look!) to piles of multiple jackets and a lot of print (especially plaid).

We’ve picked out some of our very favourite London Fashion Week street style looks and found some ideal alternates for you to create the look yourself.

Utility Skirt & Plaid

We saw so much plaid throughout street style this Fashion Week that it’s certainly not going anywhere anytime soon. Whether you opt for jacket, coat or full tailored look, this is a vibe you don’t want to miss out on. We love how this utility, wrap skirt in beige has been teamed with a bright pop of colour through the sock boots (sock boots are sticking around!) and the cost knit makes it super warm while we wait for the sun to come out.

Extreme Oversized

Our Modisme stylists just loved this super-oversized blazer; it’s all about the shoulder pads. Not only is the blazer a beauty, but the styling, with coordinating cropped, straight leg jeans and cobalt roll neck in old-school velour; it’s fashion pack perfection. Please note the shopping bag handbag, straight from the runway.

Utility Corduroy

This 70’s-style utility look is huge for spring/summer and by adding the extra facet of corduroy fabric; this look is SO trans-seasonal. Colours need to stay neutral and of the era, which is why this rust orange is so perfect and denim works fabulously too. Styled simply with white boots (so on-trend), the look could easily take you from meeting to dinner with friends.

Vinyl Vibes

Nobody in fashion right now can deny the weighty arrival of the vinyl trench. Trenches in all forms are huge for Spring, especially those with a little edge. However, vinyl trench coats were the hit of street style for LFW in bright, bold colours, traditional Burberry check and even simple khaki. It’s all about the statement fabric.

Spring Pastels

Ice cream pastels from head-to-toe are one of springs biggest trends and we saw the look hitting Fashion Week in anticipation. Styling this mint green, fully-buttoned trouser suit with a cream knit funnel neck and statement red bag lets us know exactly how to rock the trend. Adding the pearl droplet earrings is our favourite part!

Here at Modisme, we love Fashion Week. From the runways to the street style, it’s a great way to gather some interesting and creative style ideas for the coming seasons. We’ve definitely seen a shift towards more modest and purposefully covered street style of recent, giving us a wider range of inspo to peek at.
