Macy’s New Modest Collection With Verona – Modisme Top Picks
Feb 18 2018Street styleby Kate Russell
American fashion giant, Macy’s hit the headlines this month when they announced a modest fashion collaboration with modest fashion store, Verona Collection. The range includes pieces, such as long sleeve maxi dresses, long-line shirts and cover-ups and also includes a line of hijabs.

The collection is said to be aimed at Muslim and non-Muslim women, who choose to dress modestly, but still love fashion and style. Verona Collection itself, founded by photographer Lisa Vogl, aims to be an affordable and fashionable option for modest dressers world-wide.
News of the collection was greeted by mixed options from the public, like many modest fashion launches. Although lots of praise came in, in terms of inclusion and diversity within the industry, adding hijabs to the collection was met with arguments of capitalisation of women’s oppression.
Naturally, the collection came to our Modisme stylist’s attention and they’ve selected some of their most wearable pieces from the range and taken a closer look.
Long Sleeve Maxi Dress
Available in this on-trend, soft pink and also black and navy, this full-length maxi dress gives full coverage with relaxed fit, long sleeves. With waisted detail and discreet front pleats for a flattering skirt, this dress would suit rectangle, pear and hourglass body shapes the best. Pair with a great statement heel and add a belt for some extra detail.
Long-line Duster Jacket
This easy and extremely wearable duster jacket (or cardigan) is one of our favourites, here at Modisme. It’s available in a huge range of colour options, including sultry burgundy, navy blue and the ever-useful black, but we love this khaki neutral shade, a friend to all tones of denim. Style as a handy throw over for a dinner date and feel the glam of the flowing fabric, ideal for all body types.
Long-line Tunic Shirt
This striped tunic-style shirt encompasses the spring stripe trend and is ever-so versatile in style. Worn loosely over denim or tucked into wide-leg trousers, the frill cuffed detail is super chic and ever-so modest. This style could be worn buttoned to the collar or left loose with an elegant roll neck beneath. Tunic styles are great for apple shapes, but add a skinny belt or tuck in for rectangle and pear body shapes, especially.
Lace Long-line Top
Our final pick from the collection is this Emilia long-sleeve top. In this cool cappuccino shade, the length is perfect for layering with skinnies or tucking into a tailored trouser. The slight funnel neck design gives the top an elegant edge with full coverage, blended with the lace panel insert. Perfect to style with white or printed trousers for spring.
