Head-To-Toe Stripes: Springs Latest Fashion Trend For Women
Mar 01 2018Street styleby Kate Russell
With the onset of the spring season comes lots of exciting fashion moments. From brand-new florals in flowing maxi dresses to deliciously creamy, pastel-coloured tailored suits and not forgetting all the new accessories. However, this week we’re looking at one of the bolder trends for the start of the next warm season and that is stripes; head-to-toe.
Working fabulously for the modern-day, stylish modest dresser, stripes can be bright and beautiful or subtle and demure. Either way, and whether you match-up or clash colours to create your look, stripes in the top, jacket, trouser and skirt need to be teamed together for total fashion points.
The Spring ’18 runways were rocked by a montage of stripe creations. Fendi’s show saw Kaia Gerber, the newest supermodel of the moment and Cindy Crawford’s very own daughter, strutting down the catwalk in an oversized midi skirt suit with charcoal and rust orange diagonal stripes. Giorgio Armani brightened everyone’s day with a red and hot pink trouser suit with longline, oh-so-cool jacket. We also saw super summery and striped looks from labels, such as Zero + Maria Cornejo and Carolina Herrera, proving that when it comes to the stripe trend, all colours apply.

So, with stripes set to be one of the hottest prints of the new season, now is the time to get ahead and decide how you’re going to be styling the look for spring. Our very own Modisme stylists set out to find their favourite on the market right now, to create the best ultra-fashionable striped, modest look to add to your wardrobe.
Here are our top striped picks.
This tailored trouser suit from ASOS nails the trend in one. The colour is perfect for spring and if clashing isn’t your thing, this chic and polished look will give life to your work wardrobe. If you dare, add a cheeky extra stripe underneath with this simple, boxy tee from Urban Outfitters.
These super on-trend flared and high-waisted trousers by Topshop add some style to a casual look. Mix it up by pairing with a slimmer striped shirt with long sleeves. Unbutton the bottom of the shirt and tie at the waist for a purposeful overall look.
To make life a little easier, try this stunning summer dress by Sies Marjan and achieve head-to-toe stripes with one simple piece. With a delicate ruche detail at the waist, the pretty tulle accent is revealed at the hemline. Pair with this seasons shoe of the moment, white.
Get in the summer spirit with these attention-grabbing, wide-leg trousers from ASOS. The mixture of vertical and horizontal stripes are perfectly on trend and paired with this Topshop sweater with yellow gold accents, the look is elegance to a tee.
Our Mod stylists are in love with this statement jacket by Delpozo. Light-weight and elegant, this striped design can be thrown over blocked colour, monochrome or pattern and eternally hold its own. Semi-clash with this monochrome midi wrap skirt from 3.1 Phillip Lim at Harrods.
So, whether you plan to wear discreet stripes or bold and statement, clashing stripes, in bright colours or monochrome; this spring it’s a linear movement and we’ve all got to get involved. Show us your favourite stripy moment by tagging us on Instagram with #modismeloves.
